Single-Order Gift Message and Shipping Date Widget

Add a gift message field and shipping date picker to your standard Shopify cart page. Let customers personalize single orders with the same gift features used in multi-recipient checkout.

Not every store needs multi-recipient checkout. Some stores want gift messaging and shipping date selection on their regular single-order cart page. The single-order gift widget gives you exactly that: a gift message field and shipping date picker that appear on your standard Shopify cart, powered by Send To Many.

Orders placed through this widget are regular Shopify orders. They do not use the multi-recipient checkout flow and do not count toward your Send To Many plan's order limit.

What the Widget Does

The widget adds two optional fields to your cart page:

• Gift message: A text field where customers can include a personalized message with their order. The message is saved as an order note or line item property on the Shopify order.
• Shipping date picker: A date selector that uses the same shipping date rules and blackout dates you've configured for multi-recipient checkout. Customers can choose when their order should ship.

Both fields are optional for the shopper. If a customer doesn't enter a gift message or select a date, the order proceeds normally.

Setting Up the Widget

The widget is a theme app embed block that you add through the Shopify theme editor.

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
2. Open the App embeds panel (the puzzle piece icon in the left sidebar).
3. Find Single Checkout in the list of app embeds and toggle it on.
4. The widget will auto-position on your cart page. If auto-positioning doesn't work with your theme, you can specify a custom CSS selector in the widget settings to control where it appears.
5. Click Save.

Configuration

Widget settings are managed in Send To Many under Settings → Single Checkout Widget. From there you can configure which fields appear and how they behave.

The shipping date picker uses the same blackout dates and shipping date rules you've set up for multi-recipient checkout in Configuring Checkout: Basics. You don't need to configure dates separately.

Things to Know

• Orders through this widget are standard Shopify single-recipient orders. They are not Sends and do not appear in the Send To Many dashboard.
• The widget uses the same checkout_app_embed theme extension as the multi-recipient checkout. You don't need to install anything additional.
• If your theme uses a drawer or slide cart, the widget respects that layout. See Adding to Drawer/Slide Cart for theme-specific notes.
• This feature is available on all plans.
