Flare Delivery Dates with Multi-Recipient Orders

Use the Flare Delivery Date Picker alongside Send To Many on Shopify. Match Flare's order attribute key and date format so bulk order shipping dates appear on your Flare shipping calendar.

If your store uses Flare: Delivery Date Picker to let shoppers choose a delivery date, you can keep using it alongside Send To Many. There's no direct integration between the two apps, and you don't need one. Flare handles dates in your regular cart, and Send To Many writes each order's shipping date to the same order attribute Flare uses. The result: every order lands on your Flare shipping calendar, whether it came from a single-recipient cart, a multi-recipient checkout, or a spreadsheet upload.

How the Two Apps Divide the Work

  • Regular cart: Flare works exactly as it does today. Shoppers pick a delivery date, and Flare saves it to the order.
  • Multi-recipient checkout: Send To Many's shipping schedule collects a shipping date, either one date for the whole Send or a date per recipient, and saves it to Flare's order attribute.
  • Upload Sends: If your spreadsheet includes a ship date column, you map it to Flare's order attribute during upload. Every recipient order carries its date through to the Flare calendar.

One distinction to keep in mind: Send To Many collects a shipping date (when the order leaves your warehouse). We don't calculate a delivery date the way Flare does in the regular cart. For most stores this works fine, since Flare's calendar is organized around when orders need to ship.

Flare processes any order that carries its attribute key with a date in the format it expects. So both setups below are a simple matching exercise. Start by finding those two values in your Flare settings: the order attribute key and the date format Flare stores on orders. In most cases the key is __flare_ship_date and the format is YYYY-MM-DD.

Key and format must match exactly

Flare only picks up orders when both the attribute key and the stored date format match its configuration. If Send To Many orders aren't appearing on your Flare calendar, check these two values first.

Checkout Configuration

Navigate to Multi-recipient cart > Shipping & delivery and enable Require a shipping date. Then:

  1. Set Save shipping date to to Order additional details (Shopify also calls these note attributes).
  2. Paste Flare's key into the Attribute key field (e.g., __flare_ship_date).
  3. Set Order date format to match Flare's stored format (e.g., YYYY-MM-DD (2025-01-02)). This is how the date is written on the order, so it must match exactly.
  4. Set Customer date format to whatever reads best in the date picker (e.g., MMM dd, YYYY). This only affects what shoppers see, not what's stored.

Upload Setup

For upload Sends, the shipping date comes from your spreadsheet instead of a date picker:

  1. Include a ship date column in your upload file, with dates formatted the way Flare stores them (e.g., 2025-01-02 for YYYY-MM-DD).
  2. During the column mapping step, map that column to Additional Details.
  3. By default, your column header becomes the attribute key. Click the key name after mapping and rename it to Flare's key (e.g., __flare_ship_date).
Save it as an Import Format

Save your mapping as an Import Format after the first upload. The Flare attribute mapping applies automatically to future uploads with matching headers, so you only set this up once.

See Formatting Your Upload File for full details on Additional Details mapping and date formatting.

Test It

Place a test multi-recipient order (or run a small test upload) with a shipping date set, then confirm the recipient orders appear on your Flare shipping calendar on the expected date.
