Feature Support by Workflow: Checkout, Upload, and Inquiry Form
One table showing how each Send To Many feature works in multi-recipient checkout, bulk order upload, and the inquiry form: gift messages, shipping dates, discounts, product customization, tax, payment, and more.
Send To Many has three ways to create a Send: a shopper checks out on your storefront, your team uploads a spreadsheet in the app, or a customer submits the inquiry form. Most features work in all three, but where you configure them and how the data gets in differs. This page is the quick reference. Each row links to the article with the details.
An inquiry becomes an upload Send when you convert it, so from that point the Upload column applies.
Core workflow
| Feature | Multi-recipient checkout | Bulk order upload | Inquiry form |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who enters recipients | The shopper, one at a time or by uploading a spreadsheet in the cart | Your team, from a CSV, Excel file, or Google Sheet | The customer, in the form or as an attached spreadsheet. Your team converts the inquiry into a Send |
| Where it's configured | A checkout configuration (Pro and up for more than one) | A Send preset | An inquiry form configuration (Pro and up for more than one) |
| Address validation | Autocomplete as the shopper types, with validation before checkout | Validated on Step 3 with suggested corrections | Validated on Step 3 after conversion |
| Products per recipient | Each recipient card has its own product picker from the cart or collection | Product columns per recipient, or one product for everyone chosen on Step 2. Custom items for products not in your catalog | Chosen on Step 2 after conversion |
| Payment and invoicing | The shopper pays once in Shopify checkout. B2B payment terms apply for logged-in company customers | An aggregate draft invoice: pay by card, payment terms, or mark as paid. Deposits and prepayment supported | Converts to a Send; invoiced like an upload |

Which workflow fits
- Checkout when the buyer can serve themselves: they know their list, they pay by card, and you don't need to review the order first.
- Upload when your team receives the list, needs to review or price it, or invoices the client before orders ship.
- Inquiry form when buyers start with a question or a quote request. It captures the list and context, and your team takes it from there as an upload.
For a full walkthrough of each, start with Setting Up Multi-Recipient Checkout, Import Your First Bulk Order, or Setting Up the Inquiry Form.
